Are Salads Good For Keto Diet?
In short, YES they are GREAT for anyone participating in the keto diet. I eat a salad a day and if you take a moment to browse the Girl Planted Food Blog, you’ll see that I’m obsessed with making easy, simple, quick leafy greens salads. Because they are so easy to make, a salad is a great based for lunch or dinner with the keto diet.

What Salads Are Good For Keto?
Many different salads may be eaten and are good for keto. Using Leafy Greens is a great place to start creating a keto diet salad. Lettuce is a super food that you can and should eat lots of. Typically, I’ll add an avocado and/or hard-boiled egg to a dinner salad that is low carb. Sometimes I’ll replace the egg with a different meat protein like chicken or steak. If you’re into the egg and avocado pairing, they are both great sources of healthy fats. Chicken is always a favorite choice to put in a greens salad.
You can even add fruit to your salad, but in smaller amounts. Berries are always a good bet when on the keto diet. Anything can go on top of leafy greens so have fun with it and try building different types of salads!

YES! The avocado is a keto diet friendly and approved super fruit! The high fat and low net carbs pairing make it one of the best fruits you can eat, no matter the diet you’re following.
Avocado is my absolute favorite for plant-based, keto, paleo and vegan diets. I even use them in my smoothies!
Leafy Greens Salad With Smoked Gouda Cheese
Leafy Greens Salad with Smoked Gouda Cheese is delicious!
What does smoked gouda cheese taste like?
Well, it’s definitely smokey as far as cheese is concerned. It tastes a tiny bit nutty to me, but also is a soft bite, almost creamy once it’s in your mouth. It was complimentary to the egg and the avocado in this leafy greens salad. I would actually love to try it on it’s own as part of an individual charcuterie board with grain crackers and an iced cold beer to drink. Smoked Gouda Cheese is one of my favorites.

Healthy Salad Dressing Hack
When I know I’m eating a low carb, high fat keto salad, I like to make the dressing count! For this salad I used a serving of avocado oil mixed with everything bagel seasoning. It was SO good and I didn’t miss traditional dressing at all. Definitely give this salad dressing hack a try.

Smoked Gouda Cheese, Avocado and Egg In Salad
This actually sounds like a really great sandwich made with organic sprouted grains bread, too. Hmm. Perhaps I’ll make this an upcoming recipe! Regardless of how this combination is eaten, it’s a delightful bite. Not only is this a healthy salad for any type of diet you may be following, but it keeps you full longer, because of the added fiber and amount of healthy fats. Notes
Hi! I hope you love this salad recipe as much as I do! I am currently on an Intermittent Fasting and OMAD (One Meal A Day) Weight Loss Journey, so I went a little crazy with the red onion! It's such a healthy crunch if you're into texture like me. Feel free to reduce the amount used though, if you find it to be a little too much. 🙂
When you're adding the ingredients to your salad bowl, slice, chop, dice however you'd like and definitely toss them in. You don't have to make the row layers like I did in the above video. That's just how I show you what ingredients I used for the salad. When I'm eating it, the ingredients are all mixed up. Either way, it's yum!
Salads are quick, simple and delicious. I eat one a day and am sharing as many as I can with you. Feel free to browse my salad and plant-based food blog for more yummy recipes if you're into healthy eating, too.
