Easy, fast, healthy and low calorie breakfast recipes are my JAM. I actually practice 16:8 intermittent fasting at the time of writing this and 2MAD. I typically go into both of my daily meals making smaller individual meals to eat in 2 separate sittings.
Definitely research 2MAD if you have no idea what I’m talking about.
Regardless of my eating plan, a hearty, healthy breakfast is essential. Better Oats Instant Oatmeal With Flax Seeds is hands down my favorite steel-cut oats brand.
The individual instant oatmeal packets also keep this busy mama of 4 full til I eat my 2nd meal later in the day.

Is Better Oats Steel Cut Instant Oatmeal Healthy?
Yes, Better Oats Steel Cut Instant Oatmeal is very healthy!
I’m not a licensed nutritionist, so be sure to consult a doctor officially for any health related questions. Generally speaking though, I personally look at a food brand’s ingredients list to make sure there aren’t any additives or things listed that I cannot pronounce. Ultimately I choose foods that make me feel good about what I’m fueling my body with.
What Is Stearic Acid?
“Stearic acid, also called Octadecanoic Acid, one of the most common long-chain fatty acids, found in combined form in natural animal and vegetable fats.” SOURCE
So is stearic acid safe to consume? This is something you’ll need to research and decide for yourself. I found this article that explains how stearic acid works with foods. I highly recommend starting there in your research journey. I personally am good with this ingredient, obviously, ha!

What I Love Most About Better Oats Individual Instant Oatmeal Packets
The cherry on top for me is that Better Oats makes it super easy to make this a healthy, fast breakfast option with it’s measuring cup pouch feature!
I typically use this measuring guide each time I make oatmeal (when I’m not developing a recipe for the blog). It’s super convenient for making oats at home or at work.
I also LOVE using Better Oats Instant Oatmeal With Flax Seeds for overnight oats.
I will toss a single pouch into a tiny mason jar and add almond milk right to this pouch where it says “fill to this water line.” I’ll leave it in the fridge overnight

Notes
The instructions for cooking the oats says to heat in the microwave for 2 minutes 30 seconds. I found this to be too long. I personally only heat the oats for 60 seconds and allow them to sit in the microwave to plump up even more, an additional 30-45 seconds. Just thought I'd share in case it's helpful to you.
Ingredients
- 1 Pouch: Better Oats Steel Cut Instant Oatmeal With Flax Seeds
- 3 fl.oz. Unsweetened Almond Milk
- 18g Banana
- 15g Blueberries
- 9g Strawberries
- 21g Nectarine
- 3g Unsweetened Coconut Flakes
- Pinch Of Ground Nutmeg
Instructions
- Add your steel cut oats to a microwave safe container
- Add almond milk (or your choice of liquid)
- Heat in microwave on high for 60s
- Allow the oats to continue soaking in microwave an additional 30-45s
- It's hot! Carefully grab it out of the microwave
- Add toppings, sliced, diced or however you prefer. I went with cute lol
